Costs & uniforms
Clear numbers, no surprises
Here's what a year of Cub Scouts actually costs at Pack 79 — what's required, what's optional, and where every dollar goes.
The three costs, side by side
Pack dues, national registration, and uniforms are three separate things — families often see them lumped together elsewhere, so we keep them distinct here.
Pack 79 annual dues
$150per Scout / year
Paid to the Pack, this funds the program itself: den meeting supplies, advancement badges and awards, Pinewood Derby cars and track time, pack events, and insurance.
Scouting America registration
$85per Scout / year
A separate national membership fee paid to Scouting America when you register. It is not part of Pack dues and is set nationally — currently $85 per year.
Uniform (optional to start)
$102–$166+2026 bundle estimate
Official 2026 uniform bundle estimates run roughly $102–$121 for kindergarten through 4th grade and $166+ for Arrow of Light, depending on options. Estimates only — prices are set by the national store and subject to change.
Uniform figures are 2026 official bundle estimates and are subject to change by the national supply store. Some events — like campouts or ballgame outings — have small per-event costs, always shared with families in advance through One Pack.
Uniform guidance
What to buy (and what to skip)
- The navy Cub Scout shirt is the core — K through 4th grade wear it; Arrow of Light (5th grade) moves to the tan Scouts BSA-style shirt.
- Each rank adds its own neckerchief, slide, and handbook — your den leader will tell you exactly which ones.
- A belt is genuinely useful: adventure belt loops slide right onto it.
- You do NOT need the uniform for your first visits — come in everyday clothes and decide once you join.
- Ask about pre-loved uniforms. Families outgrow them fast, and the Pack helps pass them along.
